I am an Argentine singer, performer, teacher and composer based in Basel, Switzerland. Despite I have studied jazz for so many years, I also love Argentinian folklore and improvised and experimental music. I am interested in the relation between politics and aesthetics, that's why I have also studied theory of art in my beloved University of Buenos Aires and I became a Professor of arts. I taught in schools and wrote about Argentine contemporary theater and cinema in a specialized magazines and websites. I composed music for some theater pieces as well. My current work in theater is the music of Suyay (2020)   a play by Pilar Ruiz (now on stage in Buenos Aires).

I have leaded some music projects like Luciana Morelli quintet (2012-2015), my first project as vocalist and composer with whom I recorded my first album, "Mandala" (2014) of jazz standards and own compositions. It was conformed by Martin Ameconi / Ernesto Amstein (p), Diego Uriarte (sx), Santiago Lamisovski (b) and Guillermo Harriague (d) with the special participation of Juan Filipelli (g). The group won the contest "Música en Bares Notables de Buenos Aires 2015" and participated in the International Jazz Festival of Buenos Aires in 2015.

Later, I created and produced Jazz at the movies (2015-2019), an audiovisual show of jazz and cinema with Ernesto Amstein (p), Nacho Szulga (b) and Pedro Ahets Etcheberry (d). We played original arrangements of jazz standards that has been part of the BSO of classic and modern movies with background videos and images that has been specially edited for the show by Jazmín Nogueira and Sabrina Caruzo. We had a steady gig from 2016 to 2019 in one of the most prestigious jazz clubs in the city of Buenos Aires, the Bebop Club. “Jazz at the movies” has participated in "Jazzología", a famous weekly meeting with more than 30 years old at the General San Martín Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, and won the contest "Music in Notable Bars of Buenos Aires city" in 2018 In December of 2017 JATM toured different cultural centers and theaters of the province of Buenos Aires, including the Spanish Theater of the city of Azul. We have had special guests like Mariano Loiácono (trumpet), Andrés Hayes (sax) from Argentina, Lukas Kohler (trumpet), Philipp Hillebrand (clarinet) from Switzerland and Kate Ortega (vibraphone) from Colombia.

Currently, I lead Luciana Morelli group - with a new album on the way! - where I explore my argentine roots and its connection with jazz and improvised music. The group is formed by Philipp Hillebrand (clarinets), Mauricio Silva Orendain (piano), Sebastián de Urquiza / Snejana Prodanova (doublebass) and Paulo Almeida (drums). The compositions were inspired by texts, travels, paintings, photographs, dreams and different experiences related to migration and with nature. Our recent recording, "Lo abismal, el agua" (named like the hexagram of the "I-ching, the book of mutations”), is going to be released on May 2021 by Ears and Eyes records.
