"Words of the Wind" (habitable records, 2024)

ArgentJazz, AR: «Unique poems, born in different times and geographies, now made songs. Words of the wind that Luciana Morelli's music and expressiveness bring us with the forceful softness of a caress...».

Laboratorium MF, PL: «Morelli has created a work that will surely interest both music and literature lovers. It's not just music - it's a story told with sounds».

Twistedsould, UK: «…Morelli’s enchanting voice. Her voice and articulation of each word give off an energy different from the original poem, making each track her creation».

Luciana Morelli has integrated with mastery and versatility her facets of performer, composer and arranger in her new album "Words of the Wind” (Habitable records, 2024). Poems by Anne Carson, Robin Myers, Emily Brontë and Alejandra Pizarnik find their musical expression in the singer's voice and in her compositions and arrangements for different instrumentations and ensembles. Delving into themes of nature, love, death, loneliness, identity, madness, desire, family, and memory, with influences ranging from Argentinian music, classic and jazz, Luciana blends storytelling, rich harmony, and a distinct palette of musical colors in a wide-reaching and dynamic picture of the human experience.

“Lo abismal, el agua” (ears&eyes records, 2021)

Tapa_Lo abismal.jpg

Jazz' N' More, CH: **** «It is an illustrious and, above all, very capable international band that the Argentinian singer and composer Luciana Morelli has gathered around her for her new project». Steff Rohrbach

Lucid Culture, USA: «...her new album Lo Abismal, El Agua (...) is astonishingly melodic, brilliant and picturesque music: Morelli likes circular riffs that she can expand on, with occasional playful descents into chaos».

New York Daily, USA: «Luciana Morelli writes poetic, tautly imaginative jazz songs in Spanish and sings in a full, mature, expressive voice...».

These songs were written at the crossroads, at a point of no return, in a tide of change, in the search for the unexpected, between uncertainty and euphoria, in a process that led me to emigrate from Argentina to Switzerland (even without knowing it) and from which I continue to learn. Each song is, in a way, an episode of this story and a call to be like water so that, with resilience and a lot of love, we know how to confront ourselves with the abysmal of these times.

"Conflations" (Neue Numeral, 2024)

cover1.png

Conflations is the coming together of four generations of improvisers and an almost theatrical, sensory journey through different scenarios in which words and sounds combine to create a surrealistic collage that appeals to the listener's imagination.

The morelli/moser/neumann/zimmerlin ensemble experiments with text fragments by Robin Myers as material that interacts with the soundscapes they create.

Fragments arouse curiosity, stimulate imagination and draw the attention to what is not shown, what is "missing", what is not represented. They reveal perspectives and points of view that would not be offered if they were "complete". It opens up the expressive space for a multi-perspective view of things. The album will be released in 2024 on Neue Numeral.

«(...) We have been wondering around the rooms of the same house all this time. faced with the pieces of memories, impressions, fragments of thoughts, translated from text to sound, and back. Many times stoping in the middle. Merging disparate ideas into a single entity».

LISTEN

sound installation by Laura Sánchez and Luciana Morelli

2022, 2023 - Basel, Switzerland

LISTEN is an interactive sound installation that represents the city of Basel through sounds that were recorded in different neighborhoods by the artists. The visitors can choose which sounds to play and thus become the co-composers of an open work that will be different each time. Through this experience, the audience is invited to listen to the city in a different way.

It was premiered at the KHaus, Basel during the BScene Festival 2022. And it was presented for a second time at the SPIEL! Game Theory Congress organized by the Musik Akademie Basel in January 2023.
