As creators of the sounds of our city, what music do we decide to compose?
LISTENis an interactive sound installation that represents the city of Basel through sounds that were recorded in different neighborhoods by the artists. The visitors can choose which sounds to play and thus become the co-composers of an open work that will be different each time. Through this experience, the audience is invited to listen to the city in a different way.
In a way the world is a huge composition, a huge musical composition that's going on all the time, without a beginning and presumably without an ending. We are the composers of this huge miraculous composition that is going on around us. And we can improve it or we can destroy it. We can add more noises or we can add more beautiful sounds. That's all up to us.
